The project started from a textual weaving method: formal interactions with
printed text turned out as a personal code, alternative poetry on the margins.
These texts that are important for the artist — feminist to start with — can be
imagined as a pattern for everyday clothes.
The second method — Kristina writes found phrases by hand, like old cross-
writing to save paper or mantras to be repeated over and over again to
memorize something or for better understanding. Now she is working with
handwriting a lot as a new approach towards weaving the structures. A lot of
artists and poets did something similar, like visual poetry, but for Kristina it is
important that it is handwriting and it creates structures reminding textiles. We
don't do handwriting often now, some kids in school even don't have to write by
hand anymore and etc. For Kristina handwriting is something connected with her
childhood memories, diary practices, but also with margins, when you read a
book and highlight smth important for you. The viewer is encouraged to read the
phrases, but if there is no time for it, the title of the work to help.
The piece was produced within the "ColLab" program of the
Center for Art Production "Vaults" of the House of Culture "GES-2", Moscow
